MedPathNE 3v3 Tournament

In the summer of 2026, healthcare education events were put on hold because students were out of state and off campus, so MedPathNE had to do something else. We knew we wanted to do a fundraiser, but we didn’t know exactly how we wanted to do it. That’s when we landed on the idea of a 3v3 basketball tournament. Something simple. To put it plainly, basketball isn’t related to healthcare or shadowing in the slightest, so that’s why our charity of choice was the Palestinian American Medical Association. We could have fun at home with a 3v3 tournament while also raising money for medical relief for people who need it most in Palestine.

Over a dozen teams signed up to compete on June 25th, knowing that only one would win it all. We rented out the Union Bank & Trust Sports Complex for a couple of hours, and the teams got straight to it. The competitive nature was there from the start, but everybody played knowing in the back of their mind that through their contribution, medical equipment would be donated to those suffering in Palestine. Sadly, Rakan Abuissa’s team was blown out in the first round in a heartbreaking defeat, and so was Daniel Ayoub’s, our secretary. The team “El Tres” went on to win the tournament, consisting of Shareef Omar, Dion Curry, and Justin Carter.

We raised a total of $500, which was donated directly to the Palestinian American Medical Association. We are proud of how our community was able to come together to compete for a good cause, and we are also proud of MedPathNE’s success in our first fundraiser. This tournament helped our team realize that MedPathNE doesn’t just serve the purpose of connecting students with clinics for shadowing sessions, but that we could be a voice that called for the help of those who need medical attention.

More fundraiser events will come in the future, so stay tuned for what MedPathNE has to offer next!!
